Eastend Economic Development Committee: Working to Strengthen Our Community
The Eastend Economic Development Committee advances initiatives that promote economic growth, strengthen the community and enhance the quality of life for residents of Eastend and area.
Through a variety of projects and partnerships, the Committee works to create opportunities, attract visitors and investment to Eastend and support the community's growth and long-term sustainability. Current initiatives include community promotion, improved local healthcare services, and the development of new recreational and tourism opportunities.
Welcoming Visitors to Eastend
One of the Committee’s recent projects has been the development of new entrance billboards on the east and west approaches to Eastend.
The billboards provide a welcoming first impression while showcasing Eastend and encouraging travellers to stop, explore and discover what our community has to offer. They are part of the Committee’s ongoing efforts to increase Eastend’s visibility and promote the community as a destination to visit, live and invest.
Supporting Better Healthcare Close to Home
The Committee is also leading fundraising efforts in support of a new digital X-ray system and laboratory upgrades at the Wolf Willow Health Centre.
As part of this initiative, the Committee is organizing a Gala Fundraiser & Live/Silent Auction on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Eastend Memorial Hall.
The project represents an important investment in rural healthcare. A new digital X-ray system will provide clearer images, support faster diagnosis and treatment decisions, and help reduce the need for patients to travel to other communities for services.
The Gala has received tremendous support from businesses, organizations and individuals throughout Eastend and the surrounding region, demonstrating what can be accomplished when communities work together toward a common goal.
Bringing Disc Golf to Eastend
Another initiative spearheaded by the Eastend Economic Development Committee is a proposed disc golf course for Eastend.
The first phase proposes a six-hole, beginner-friendly course, creating an affordable and accessible recreational activity for residents of all ages while adding another attraction for visitors.
The long-term vision is to build on the initial course and explore opportunities to eventually develop an 18-hole course, further enhancing Eastend’s outdoor recreation and tourism offerings.
