Eastend Communities In Bloom

Communities in Bloom is a national and provincial program that recognizes community involvement in initiatives related to beautification, heritage conservation, and environmental stewardship. It provides an excellent opportunity for communities to foster civic pride, encourage local participation, while gaining recognition across the province and country.

The Town of Eastend has proudly participated in Communities in Bloom since 2013, beginning in the Novice Category and then moving into the Competitive Category. Following four provincial and multiple awards, Town Council undertook a review of priorities and strategic direction, resulting in a transition to the Tourist's Takeaway Category.

This category allows judges to experience Eastend as first-time visitors, evaluating the community from a tourist's perspective while offering valuable feedback. It continues to provide a platform to promote and showcase Eastend's unique attractions, community spirit and natural assets.

In recent years the Town of Eastend has been recognized as a Provincial winner in the 501-1000 Population Category:, receiving the following distinctions:

2017 - Special Mention for Community Theme: Discover a Sanctuary for all your Senses… Discover Eastend, Saskatchewan.

2018 - Special Mention for the Town Square.

2023 - Special Mention for Tree Management and Natural Tree Nursery.

2025 - Special Mention for Very Supportive Volunteer System

In addition, the Town has received the following Communities in Bloom awards

2020 - "Environmental Action Award" for the Development of the Town Square.

2021 - "Trees and Urban Forestry Award" for the Campground Planting Project. And a Special Mention for Engaging Slogan: “Discover a Sanctuary for All Your Senses”.

2022 - "Heritage Recognition Award" for the Eastend Historical Museum Volunteers work. A Special Mention for Increased Promotion of our Cultural and Natural Heritage.

2023 - "Environmental Action Award" for the Southwest Waste Management Authority Regional Landfill.

2024 - "Community Spirit Award" for the Eastend Friday Night Market.

Through its continued participation in Communities in Bloom, the Town of Eastend demonstrates a strong commitment to community development, environmental responsibility, and celebrating the collective efforts of its residents and volunteers, while positioning Eastend as a unique and inviting destination to visit, and an exceptional community to live and do business.
